U13s Sth Div 2 Canning City vs Queens Park
At 9.30am the game kicked off at Willetton Reserve on a very still, humid morning. We only had 11 players pitch side, which unfortunately meant No SUBS. But the kids stuck together, and played remarkably more organised than last Sunday, which had been their first League game for 2011. A hard fought 4-4 Draw had been the final score last week.
At half-time Queens Park were 3 goals up, with a couple of near misses we could have had a higher score. The team played really well, with good passing, judgement and through balls. Most of the half was played in Canning City's half, with our goalkeeper Ben having to defend our goal about two times. This he did strongly. Halftime and the kids were showing signs of fatigue. Not surprising at the start of the season. But they soldiered on, Jasmine donned the GK gloves and jersey and guarded our goal. Canning City came out reinspired and managed to get through our defence to score 1 goal. CC's Left winger was very quick and hungry to score, she was a good player.
The run of play had turned against us a bit, and we were put under the hammer a bit for the next 10 minutes. But the QP players found their rhythm again and managed to score another 3 goals. Jasmine saved a couple of other shots on goal, and along with our defence managed to clear the box several times from their attack. Well done to all the players. I can't think of one player who didn't put 100% in today. It was a pleasure to watch you all play and enjoy yourselves.
Final Score was CC 1 - QP 6. Goal scorers for Queens Park were Robert 3, Albert 2 and OG 1. The goals were a team effort and you should all be proud of your contribution to the game.

Masters Division 2 South
Queens Park 2 Vs Chandlers Macleod 2
The opening game of the season and with 3 new players and the
return of old teammate Derek from a few years ago we were
feeling very upbeat after the disappointments of last year. The
first 20 minutes were very scrappy from both teams as they tried
to adjust to the windy conditions and although we had lots of
possession it took us a while to play ball to feet as our coach
had demanded but eventually we started some good moves but our
finishing was poor. The opposition were mostly trying the long
ball and eventually scored against the run of play after a long
throw into the box led to some confusion and the ball was
scrambled in so it was 1 nil to Chandlers Macleod at half time.

The second half started equally frustrating for us as we kept giving the ball away but we again started to play some lovely passing football with Art and Paul G causing there defence lots of problems but still we couldn't take our chances until eventually the pressure paid off with an equaliser by Lee put in the box by Paul. The opposition didn't really have a lot to offer at this time and a move was started by a Paul Cowling free kick that found Art who then put it wide on the right to Paul G.
He hustled his way through a
couple of defenders, got into their area and put a great ball
across the 6 yard box which split the defence and Lee easily
finished off the move to make it 2-1.
With 10 minutes left we then should have finished them off when Scott beat 3 players and
got into the area but shot wide. They then put us under a bit of
pressure and equalised from another long throw into the box that
came off the head of one of our defenders after a bit of
confusion. We felt we had done more than enough to win but if
you don't take your chances that's what happens. We were very
pleased with our 3 debutants particularly our new goalkeeper Tom
who did very well considering he hasn't played for a long time.
The only sour note was an injury to Jason's knee in the first
half and he had to be helped off the pitch but it seems as
though it's not as bad as it looked so he hopes to be fit again
soon.
